Wrinkle Relaxers

attractive woman smilingWhen it comes to your facial structures and smile, a dentist is one of the best experts to see and trust. Our local dentists each spent five-seven years in university studying orofacial anatomy and function. As therapists and artists, dentists understand the delicate balance between dental health, beauty and the fine details involved. That’s why Michelson’s Dental Surgery is now pleased to offer wrinkle relaxers for your aesthetic and orofacial needs.

Let Your Personality Shine Through

Injectables like wrinkle relaxers can help a person improve the way they feel, especially if they are conscious of imperfections in the face. There’s nothing wrong with getting older, but relaxing the skin and muscles around the mouth and eyes can help certain people feel more youthful! We ensure that all injectable treatments look as natural and age-appropriate as possible. Freshen up you’re appearance and help enhance your best features!

Depending on the situation at hand, these injectable are useful for addressing:

  • Fine lines around the eyes (“crow’s feet”)
  • Frown lines in-between the eyes
  • Masseter muscle/Facial slimming
  • Gummy smiles
  • Forehead wrinkles/lines

We offer anti-wrinkle injections to block the nerve impulses of muscles to release tension in that specific area.

Managing Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD/TMJD)

Wrinkle relaxers were initially introduced in dentistry to help people relieve the symptoms of frequent headaches, facial pain, teeth grinding at night and TMJ disorder.

If you prefer not to wear a splint or a mouthguard is not enough to help with the pain, injectable solutions can make a big difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the process painful?

The injections used for wrinkle relaxers are quick and mild. Because they are so small and just at the surface of the skin, there is no need to anaesthetise the area being treated.

Is it safe?

Yes. The quality products we use are remarkably safe when used by a health professional like as dentist. Any specific concerns can be discussed individually at consultation time.

How does it work?

The treatment targets wrinkles by acting on the muscles that cause them. A small amount of solution is placed in the muscle which stops the nerves from telling it to contract of flex.

Can I have the treatment straightaway?

After your consultation, wrinkle relaxers can be offered the same day.* Consult fee redeemable for same day treatment.

How long does treatment take?

It takes only 5-10 minutes to completely treat areas around the forehead, eyes (crow’s feet) or smile lines. You should start to see results from your treatment within the first 4-10 days. Additional top-up units may be required at follow up appointments.

How much does it cost?

Here at Michelson’s dental surgery the cost per unit is $13.00 per unit.

How many Units will I need?

This will depend on the area you wish to have treated. Below are the approximate units per area:

  • Frown lines: 15-25 Units
  • Crow’s feet (corner of the eyes): 5-12 Units each side
  • Forehead: 5-15 Units
  • Masseter area/Facial slimming: 20-35 Units each side
  • Gummy smile: 2 Units each side

What are some of the possible side effects?

Like any injection, there is the risk of minimal discomfort, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness or bruising. Most people can return to work or their everyday activities straightaway, as there are usually no noticeable marks left after the treatment. Some side effects include pain, complications to eyesight, dizziness or headaches.

How long will my treatment results last?

Although results may vary, most people see the effects last for up to six months. After your initial treatment, we recommend a preventative schedule to help extend the length of your results. Subsequent applications tend to last much longer than the first, as the treatment is cumulative. Otherwise, the effects will gradually wear away.

Can anybody have it done?

Yes, generally this treatment is suitable for everyone, however, there are some people who may have certain nerve or muscle conditions that prevent treatments from working. Please let your dentist know if this is the case before treatment.
